Piaget at the Second Beijing International Polo Open Tournament

PIAGET was the official timekeeper at Second Beijing International Polo Open Tournament held on 23 September 2010, at the Beijing Sunny Times Polo Club. As the largest and most authoritative government-hosted International polo match in China, the event is hailed as the index of the sport’s progress and development in China. Aside from being the official timekeeper of this year’s match, Piaget will also be the sponsor of the Chinese team as it competes for the gold against visiting teams from Australia, Chile and New Zealand.

The equestrian game of polo was originally “invented” in China in the Han Dynasty, and flourished in the Tang and Sung dynasties. It later “immigrated” to India, where it was adopted and brought back to England to become a favorite pastime of the British, and since, the entire world. In 2004, with the support of the Beijing Athletics Bureau along with the Yan-Qing County government, the game of polo was again revived. In celebration of The Second Annual Beijing International Polo Match, PIAGET presented its Polo FortyFive watch to Mr. Yang Xia, Executive Director of the Polo Committee of Chinese Equestrian Association, as a token of honour and recognition for his contribution towards the promotion and development of the sport in China.

PIAGET‘s VIP viewing tent featured the trendy 45 mm-diameter Polo FortyFive case that is reminiscent of the 45-minutes of a polo match. The PIAGET Polo FortyFive adopts a resolutely sporty attitude with an exterior that is a first for PIAGET, combining titanium, injected rubber and steel. Not only a tribute to the sport, the watch with its dynamic design and perfectly mastered technology, truly represents PIAGET’s continuous commitment towards a sport which reflects its own values of bold daring, high standards and faultless accuracy.

Piaget Launches New Website

0141

This autumn, Piaget is launching its new website featuring improved ease of use, enriched content and enhanced interactivity. The look is pared down and restrained. The site is equipped with the latest HMTL technologies for content management and speedy loading. The home page orders information hierarchically to invite a guided tour of the site’s clearly identified sections.

The site presents the brand’s history and expertise, and the latest news section is regularly updated. Visitors enjoy direct access to the watch and jewelery collections. Each model can be viewed from various angles, or admired in a video. Mechanical hand-wound and automatic movements reveal their development and operating secrets, while the jewelery creations unveil their aesthetic features. Visitors can print the photos or send them to friends via a direct link, and an on-line catalog can also be consulted.

Piaget’s boutique network can be viewed at a glance, and the search for a given point of sale is facilitated by a photo, a detailed map and a street view of each, with the option to print this data. The customer care service explains wristwatch and jewelry maintenance and offers a concierge system that allows a Piaget adviser to contact clients directly, if they so desire.

Interactivity starts at the home page with links to Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, as well as a multimedia section enabling fast downloads of cell phone apps, screen savers and wallpapers.

Piaget will improve its website through the year, introducing a number of other services that will further strengthen the ties the brand has established with its clientele.

Piaget at the “Twilight Saga: Eclipse” Premiere

Looking every bit the leading man, Taylor Lautner waved to the hundreds of Twi-hard fans before joining co-star Kristen Stewart on the red carpet for the “Eclipse” premiere in New York.

Lautner arrived wearing a pale grey suit and dark shirt accented with Piaget’s Altiplano 40mm in white gold with a black dial. The Altiplano’s classically refined, yet modern in feel and ultra- slim profile made it the perfect choice for Lautner, who has become a new fan of Piaget.

The Piaget-sponsored premiere of the summer’s most highly anticipated film drew a number of celebrities and high profile New Yorkers, including Abigail Breslin, Cheyenne Jackson, Matchbox Twenty’s Rob Thomas, stylist Rachel Zoe, models Hilary Rhoda, Carol Alt and Dree Hemingway, Kelly Kilorean Bensimon, Lauren Bush and designers Rachel Roy, Cynthia Rowley and Georgina Chapman. Also in attendance was Nic Roldan, Piaget’s polo ambassador who was in town for the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic where he captained Prince Harry’s team. Roldan wore the special limited edition version of the Piaget Polo FortyFive that Piaget created for the event. Following the screening, Piaget hosted an intimate after-party in the Crosby Hotel’s private lounge.

Piaget Gets The Ronson Seal Of Approval

Mark Ronson—he of the six-shirts-a-season Band of Outsiders habit, Van Cleef & Arpels cologne, and strident pompadour—is one of the most fashion-minded of the power producers (not, by the way, an un-peacocking lot). So when he put out his latest video, for “Bang Bang Bang” (co-starring “the Business INTL”—a.k.a. Q-Tip and Brooklyn up-and-comer MNDR), we were curious to see the fashion credits. The guy doesn’t disappoint. The gold, peak-lapelled double-breasted suit fits in with the nouveau-retro eighties shtick nicely (plus, Versace just showed similar), and Lacoste must be over the moon that its canvas sneaks got a nod. But my favorite is the watch. Leave the Rollies to the rappers. Who else but Mark Ronson is going to floss a Piaget? That’s the mechanical, hand-wound, diamond-encrusted Altiplano on his wrist, first in white, and then (as above) in vinyl-ish black. For the handful of you who see this video and have the funds for a Piaget, it’s now available at the brand’s boutiques and select retailers nationwide. If not, well, you can check out the full video below.
