Breitling Wingwalkers

An Exceptional New Team is Flying under the Breitling Colors Featuring Acrobats Dancing on Aircraft Wings

The Breitling Wingwalkers bring together within a truly stunning show two different types of aerobatics: one with planes flying in formation, and another with young women perched on the center of the upper wing and performing a synchronized choreography. This is a magnificent way of recalling the famous «barnstormers», the teams of pilots and stuntmen who performed all over the place in the period between the two world wars. This squad is unique in the world and has already made a name for itself by displaying its blend of daring and precision at countless shows around Europe, as well as on other continents. It will continue to perform at various major public events, and will also be present at special happenings reserved for brand retailers and VIP clients.

The two planes used for the performances are 1940s open-cockpit Boeing Stearman biplanes, characterized by the beautiful signature sound of their 450 HP engines and a smoke trail system that underscores their movements. Breitling has treated them to a brand-new orange livery that makes them stand out even more brightly against the blue expanse of sky. By supporting various exceptional teams such as the Breitling Jet Team and the Breitling Wingwalkers, and by associating with the greatest aviation venues on the planet such as the famous Reno Air Races or the Red Bull Race World Series, by sponsoring the restoration of legendary aircraft like the Breitling Super Constellation and the Breitling DC-3, the brand with the winged B is faithfully perpetuating its long-established ties with aviation and the conquest of the skies.

Chopard and the Mille Miglia 2010

Photobucket

Mille Miglia GT XL Chrono 2010
A great sporting classic

The strength of true classics is that they simply never age, provided they are perpetually reinvented. The Mille Miglia watch is one of the great watchmaking classics, an iconic sports watch that is annually reinterpreted by Chopard. The 2010 model is certainly a match for the reputation established by its illustrious predecessors. A powerful design combined with sterling technical qualities make this 2010 another great vintage. The Mille Miglia GT XL Chrono 2010 is distinguished by a generous 44 mm case in steel or 18-carat rose gold, framing a vintage-style design with elongated numerals that are nonetheless in tune with the spirit of the characteristic Mille Miglia numerals. The same goes for the rhodium-grey engine-turned finish reminiscent of vintage sports car dashboards, along with the minute circle in black and red – the colour of the legendary race that attracts the best OR crème de la crème of classic cars to the route running from Brescia to Rome and has been sponsored by Chopard for over 20 years. The case is water-resistant to 100 metres and fitted with a bezel bearing a tachometric scale, as well as a screw-lock crown adorned with the famous Mille Miglia arrow and broad chronograph pushers controlling functions that are more readable than ever thanks to the dial design. The translucent black PVD limited edition inscription on the sapphire crystal case-back is inspired by the race numbers of the cars taking part in the rally. The readability is further improved by anti-reflective sapphire crystal on both faces.

The Mille Miglia GT XL Chrono 2010 is equally impeccable from a technical standpoint. Its mechanical self-winding movement beating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour – 4 Hertz – is visible through the transparent case-back. Chronometer-certified by the COSC, it features a 46-hour power reserve which drives the hour, minute, date, small seconds functions, as well as the chronograph and its central seconds hand, along with 30-minute and 12-hour counters. It is also equipped with a stop seconds mechanism enabling time-setting to the nearest second.

The Mille Miglia GT XL Chrono 2010 is secured firmly to the wrist by a natural rubber Dunlop Racing strap featuring a design echoing that of the 1960s racing tyres and fitted with a folding clasp. The Mille Miglia GT XL Chrono 2010 is available in a limited steel edition of 2010 or in a 250-piece limited edition in 18-carat rose gold.

Here’s a photo of Karl Scheufele, Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, (Remember folks, Chopard is a family owned business) and Jacky Ickx wearing the new Chopard Mille
Miglia Chronograph 2010.

Right, that’s enough of this watch stuff, Mille Miglia, Jacky Ickx… that means cars.

Chopard have a long association with the Mille Miglia and has recently signed a new contract as official timekeepers for the event for the next twenty years. This year’s event (in May) saw 375 entrants, the cars were constructed between 1927 and 1957 and that means fine pieces of kit…

Oh, Giuliano Cané and Lucia Galliani, in a 1939 BMW 328 Mille Miglia Coupé, were the first to cross the finish line, making this their tenth Mille Miglia victory. Luciano Viaro, who had come in first in the races in 2005, 2007 and 2008, paired with Mark Gessler in a faithful Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 Gran Sport, took second place this time. In third place were Enzo Ciravolo and Maria Leitner, in another BMW, a 1937 BMW 328.

As Chopard’s emblematic sports watch that has come to symbolise the world’s most famous classic car rally, the Mille Miglia remains loyal to the annual event that has made it a classic in the field of luxury watchmaking. Immediately recognisable thanks to its natural rubber Dunlop Racing strap, it appears in 2010 in a 44 mm-diameter steel case housing a self-winding chronograph movement chronometer-certified by the COSC.

Piaget at the “Twilight Saga: Eclipse” Premiere

Looking every bit the leading man, Taylor Lautner waved to the hundreds of Twi-hard fans before joining co-star Kristen Stewart on the red carpet for the “Eclipse” premiere in New York.

Kristen Stewart is “Team Piaget” for the event

Lautner arrived wearing a pale grey suit and dark shirt accented with Piaget’s Altiplano 40mm in white gold with a black dial. The Altiplano’s classically refined, yet modern in feel and ultra- slim profile made it the perfect choice for Lautner, who has become a new fan of Piaget.

The Piaget-sponsored premiere of the summer’s most highly anticipated film drew a number of celebrities and high profile New Yorkers, including Abigail Breslin, Cheyenne Jackson, Matchbox Twenty’s Rob Thomas, stylist Rachel Zoe, models Hilary Rhoda, Carol Alt and Dree Hemingway, Kelly Kilorean Bensimon, Lauren Bush and designers Rachel Roy, Cynthia Rowley and Georgina Chapman. Also in attendance was Nic Roldan, Piaget’s polo ambassador who was in town for the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic where he captained Prince Harry’s team. Roldan wore the special limited edition version of the Piaget Polo FortyFive that Piaget created for the event. Following the screening, Piaget hosted an intimate after-party in the Crosby Hotel’s private lounge.
