AUDEMARS PIGUET For Gstaad Vibrates to the Sound of Fine Pieces of Engineering

GRAND PRIX DE GSTAAD: Paul Ricard circuit, 9 /10 October 2010On the occasion of the first Dix Mille Tours, Classic Endurance Racing will exceptionally become the Grand Prix de Gstaad! The Swiss Alps ski resort does not keep its love story with dream cars secret. There is of course the Gstaad Classic Audemars Piguet, prestigious historic bi-annual rally of which the second edition is announced from 31 August to 4 September 2011; but also the Gstaad Automobile Club. Many members of this very select club successfully participate in major European events. Stéphane Gutzwiller is one of those happy few. Racing in the Le Mans Classic, the Tour Auto Optic 2ooo, Pau and Classic Endurance Racing, he has decided to create, on Gstaad Automobile Club’s behalf, the Grand Prix de Gstaad for the two CER grids entering the lists at the Dix Mille Tours on the French Paul Ricard circuit.

Grand Prix de Gstaad. DR
One month after the British round of Silverstone, the C.E.R. finale promises a breathtaking show with a double grid totalling 90 cars, or more! The drivers know the Paul Ricard HTTT very well since they started the season on this layout in April! The Proto 2 category should have a good time on this fast track, particularly Jean-Marc Luco and his ex-Le Mans Porsche 936, used to the podium’s highest step. The Swiss driver will share the circuit with fifteen compatriots, who will work hard to defend the Helvetia Confederation colours at the Grand Prix de Gstaad. Among them, obviously Stéphane Gutzwiller, driving his B16 Chevron; Christian Traber, the 1st Gstaad Classic Audemars Piguet winner; Claude Nahum on a De Tomaso Pantera; Peter Voegele –son of Swiss racing driver Charles Voegele- on a 910 Porsche or Dominique Guenat on a Lola T290… To be noted the presence of motor sports legend Bobby Rahal. The 500 Miles of Indianapolis, winner, CART triple champion and former F1 Jaguar team boss… will drive a Lola T212 in the Proto 1 category.

GSTAAD CLASSIC Audemars Piguet: 31 August – 4 September 2011

After a first successful event in 2009, the bi-annual rally with Gstaad as a base camp announces its new dates in the 2011 autumn. Coorganised by Peter Auto, DSL Events & the Automobile Club de Gstaad, via Isabelle de Sadeleer; the prestigious meeting will gather some one hundred crews driving GT and sports cars from the ’30’s to the late ’70’s. The entry files will be sent by the end of the year.

The Gstaad Classic Audemars Piguet 2011 programme will remain the same. Three days of rally throughout the Swiss Alps with a different loop every day, dotted with special stages on closed roads, always starting from Gstaad. The recipe is the one which made Peter Auto’s fame, with a strict selection of the right cars and the choice for the competitors between Competition and Regularity. Last, but not least, other Gstaad Classic attractions are the scenic route and the delicious and festive catering with gala dinners, picturesque lunches and discovery of surprising locations.
